Chittagong Kings won the toss and opted to bowl first. The decision of inviting the antagonist team to bat first seemed quite perfect when Gladiators’ opener batsman Tilakratne Dilshan was bowled out by Taskin Ahmed in very first over of the match. After his dismissal, Anamul Haque and 2nd opener batsman Mohammad Ashraful played significant roles in cementing the base of team’s score. Ashraful scored 24 runs in 16 balls while Haque smashed 58 runs in 36 balls.

Though their partnership came to an end in the sixth over and Ashraful returned to pavilion, next batsman Shakib Al Hassan continued to score runs with speedy approach. Hitting 2 sixes and 2 fours, the left handed cricketer scored 41 runs in 29 balls. After the wickets of Hassan and Haque, the middle order of batting lineup couldn’t give better finish to the inning and the team ended up scoring 172 runs in 20 overs with the loss of nine wickets.

Rubel Hossain picked up four wickets while LHD Dilhara and Taskin Ahmed took two wickets each. RS Bopara picked up one wicket while other bowlers went wicketless in the game. Chasing the target of 172 runs, Chittagong Kings didn’t have good start to its batting inning. The team lost wicket of its opener batsman GSNFG Jayasuriya. At the other end of strike JJ Roy was performing well. He scored 40 runs in 28 balls. After Jayasuriya’s dismissal, Nurul Hasan scored 14 runs in ten balls.

Middle order of batting lineup collapsed as the cricketers in top order failed to perform well. However, skipper Mahmudullah took hard efforts and tried his best to bring victory for his team. Hitting 3 sixes and 3 fours, the right handed batsman smashed 44 runs in 28 balls. Ariful Haque too endeavoured to accompany his teammate by scoring 12 runs in 12 balls, but the partnership failed to achieve the desired target.

Failing to chase the huge target, Chittagong Kings lost all wickets in 17 overs and scored 129 runs. AC Thomas and Mosharraf Hossain picked up three wickets while Mashrafe Mortaza and Saqlain Sajib took one wicket each. Other pacers and spinners went wicketless in the match.
