Dhaka Dynamites beat Khulna Titans by 65 runs

In the fourth match of ongoing Bangladesh Premier League, Dhaka Dynamites defeated Khulna Titans by 65 runs. While batting first, Dhaka’s team set up a mighty score of 202 runs in 20 overs. Khulna Titans failed to chase the target of 203 runs and ended up scoring 137 runs in 18.1 overs. The team lost its all ten wickets in the long run-chase.

After winning the toss, Khulna Titans opted to bowl first. Dhaka Dynamites’ opener batsmen Kumar Sangakkara and Evin Lewis gave a good start to their batting inning. Left arm Sri Lankan cricketer (Sangakkara) scored 20 runs in 12 balls and lost his wicket in 4th over. After his dismissal, Cameron Delport accompanied Lewis.

Partnership between Delport and Lewis escalated the team’s overall score and took it beyond the triple digit score. Hitting 3 sixes and 7 fours, Lewis scored 66 runs in 40 balls. Delport hit 5 sixes and 4 fours to score 64 runs in 31 balls. After these players returned to pavilion, middle order of the batting lineup failed to add much runs to the team’s score.

Though the bottom order of batting lineup couldn’t score double digit runs, the team ended up scoring 202 runs in 20 overs with the loss 7 wickets. Abu Jayed and Shafiul Islam picked up two wickets each. Jofra Chioke Archer and Carlos Braithwate took one wicket each. Mahmudullah, Mosharraf Hossain and Akila Dananjaya went wicketless in the first inning.

Khulna Titans began the run-chase with a stuttering start. Opener batsman Nazmul Hossain Shanto lost his wicket in the 2nd over of the inning. Caribbean cricketer Carlos Brathwaite also returned pavilion without scoring any run. 2nd opener batsman Chadwick Walton was performing well at the other end of strike.

Walton was accompanied by Rilee Rossouw in the middle phase of the game. The two players tried their best to bring their team back on the track of victory. Unfortunately, both cricketers lost their wickets at equal intervals of time. Walton scored 30 runs in 13 balls while Rossouw hit 23 runs in 14 balls.

No player, except Jofra Chioke Archer who scored 36 runs in 24 balls, managed to score double digit runs. With the decline of middle order of batting lineup, the men to bat in bottom order also lost their wickets and the team managed to score 137 runs in 18.1 overs. Cameron Delport won ‘Player of the Match’ award for his admirable batting performance in this BPL T20 match.
